The next day after the Yokohama parade, I went cycling in Tokyo with my friends. I didn’t have any bicycle, so I had to borrow my friend’s bicycle. First, I went to Todoroki (等々力) to take the bicycle and then cycled to Ookayama (大岡山) to meet another friend and borrowed one more bicycle. Then we started to cycle around Tokyo from Ookayama. Actually we wanted to follow the route provided in this site, but because we met at Ookayama, so we set our starting point there.

From Ookayama, we went to Shirokanedai (白金台). There was a large Book Off store here, so we dropped by the store to see if there were some interesting and cheap books. My friends bought some books there, but I didn’t. Then, from Shirokanedai we went to Yotsuya. In Yotsuya, we wanted to try to eat taiyaki near the Yotsuya Station. But unfortunately, the shop was closed due to golden week. Being so hungry at that time, we found an udon shop and dropped to have some lunch before continuing our cycling.

On March 2nd, I went to Tokyo Disney Sea with my friends. Tokyo Disney Sea is a part of Tokyo Disney Resort. Because it was spring holiday for students, there was discount of its entrance ticket for students called “Campus Day Passport”. The normal one day passport is 5800 yen, but the campus day passport cost us 4500 yen. It could be bought in the convenient stores or in the school co-op.

My Trips in March

May 2, 2010 at 12:52 AM | Posted in Just for fun, March 2010 Travelling | 2 Comments

I went on several trips during March this year. It was spring holiday in Japan (春休み), so I used this time to travel to several places in and out of Japan. The trips were all done in March, so I did not had much time and energy to write them down. It’s already May now, so I think I’ll try to write them down one by one before I forget about them and have more and more experiences that needed to be written here :D

Today, for the second time, I got locked out again. This time I was locked outside my lab. I didn’t know that the door system of my lab had been changed, a door system which needed student id card to open after 8 pm, so I went out of my lab without bringing my wallet which had my student id card in it. I thought that I was just going out for a while, and I would be back soon, and I didn’t need to use any money, so I just left my wallet in my bag and left them in my lab. I only brought my cell phone and 定期券 with me.

After coming back to my lab, I tried to open the door, but it was locked. I thought maybe I could get in through another door which used password to open. I just realized that this door had also been changed, there were no more buttons for the password, and there was just an IC card reader instead.

Tsukiji Fish Market

On February 26th, 2010, my friends and I went to Tsukiji fish market. Tsukiji fish market is a very famous market in Tokyo where fresh fish and other kinds of seafood are sold. It is also famous for its tuna fish auction. Early in the morning (5 am to 6.15 am) the tuna fish are auctioned. The fish market is not open everyday, it has its own business calendar. The tuna auction is also not always held during the business days.

We went to Tsukiji to see the tuna auction and also ate sushi/seafood in sushi restaurants there. Since the tuna auction is only until 06.15 am, we had to take the first train to go to Tsukijishijo Station (築地市場駅). The first train from Fujigaoka could not get there in time, so we decided to stay for one night at Miyamaedaira, which is a little bit closer to Tsukijishijo than Fujigaoka. We took 05.06 train from Miyamaedaira to Tsukijishijo. (Actually we were too early and there was 05.01 train heading to Oimachi, but after counting the time to arrive at Tsukijishijo, we changed to that 05.06 train).

Several weeks ago when I went to buy groceries, I saw avocados and felt that I wanted to buy them. I had not eaten any avocados after arriving at Japan. I really liked and used to eat a lot of avocados in Indonesia. So at that time I felt an urge to eat avocado again.

There were no soft and ripe avocados in the store at that time, so I just took two avocados which were still hard. I also bought milk chocolate powder. After going back to the dormitory, I opened one of the avocados and wanted to eat it like how I used to eat it in Indonesia, mashing it and then adding sugar and chocolate powder into it.

Last week was the last exam week for me in Tokodai. After my examinations,  really wanted to go out somewhere to refresh my mind after having been at dormitory or campus and lab the whole time. Contrary to my YSEP friend , who does not like to go out very much really like to go out somewhere, just go out somewhere,  don’t really like to stay in a place for a long time continuously. So, on February 13th 2010, we ( ) went to Asakusa (浅草), Ueno (上野), and then Akihabara (秋葉原). At first we didn’t know where to go, but because  wanted to go to Akihabara to buy PSP, so we decided to go to Akihabara. Because Akihabara and Asakusa is near, and  had never gone to Asakusa, so we also decided to go to Asakusa. Ueno is located near Akihabara and Asakusa, so we went there too. :D

My 横浜-東京-横浜-東京-横浜 Chinese New Year

This year I was celebrating Chinese New Year in Japan. I was at two cities on that day, crossing from Yokohama to Tokyo for several times. They were the fourth and fifth city where I celebrated Chinese New Year. The first city was of course Pematangsiantar, my hometown. The second city was Bandung where I studied in university. The third city was Palembang where my aunt lived and I went there on Chinese New Year last year.

This year, the Chinese new year was on February 14th. It was Sunday, so on that day I went to the church too. I am living at Yokohama area, while my church is in Shibuya, so I went to Shibuya from Yokohama to attend the 11 am worship first. The worship finished at 12.30, I walked to the Shibuya Station and took a 1 pm train to Yokohama. I bought Minatomirai ticket at Shibuya Station (840 yen) so that I could play at Yokohama Minatomirai and then go to China Town in Yokohama.

I crossed from Tokyo to Yokohama this time. I was the first person to arrive at Minatomirai Station (みなとみらい駅), so I waited for my friends until 2 pm. Then we went to many places at Minato Mirai, and took many pictures there. Because it was also Valentine day, there so many couples in Minatomirai. Not only young couples but also old couples went to Minatomirai to have their Valentine date (in Japanese it’s calledデート).

“Refugee” For 11 Hours

Have you ever been locked out of your room and you could not get in at all, and you could not contact anybody to open the door of your room for you? I had just had that kind of experience yesterday.

Yesterday, at about 1 pm, my friend, Chandra, sent me a message via yahoo messenger to help him with the heater in his room. It was cold yesterday, and he wanted to turn on the heater in his room. Since the buttons of the heater remote had writings all in kanji and he could not read kanji, so he asked me to help him. I thought that I wouldn’t be in his room for long, so I just wore my slippers and walked to his room without bringing my cell phone and my room key. My roommate was still in the dorm, so I thought that I could get in without having to bring any key.
