On Sunday, November 18th 2009, I went to お台場 with my host mother, Kitty ちゃん, and my host mother’s friend. It was located at Tokyo Bay, and actually it was a reclamation land at Tokyo Bay. The first place we went to was the Rainbow Bridge (レインボーブリッジ). It was called Rainbow Bridge because on certain occasions, the light of the bridge would be rainbow-colored at night and it would be very beautiful.
Rainbow bridge connected the mainland of Tokyo to the reclamation land across the Tokyo Bay. There are several different transportation lines on it, the center line is for train-Yurikamome Line, besides the line for train is road for cars, and then there are also walk paths for pedestrians. We went across the Rainbow Bridge on foot. From the Rainbow Bridge, we could see beautiful view of Tokyo Bay.
After crossing the Rainbow Bridge, we went to have a lunch at an Italian restaurant. It is a restaurant which allows people to bring their pet inside the restaurant. But the price of the food at this restaurant was quite expensive and the portion was small. It costed about 1000 yen for one person to buy the cheapest spaghetti and drink. 😦
After lunch we went to a small beach nearby. But we did not stay there for a long time because we still had places we wanted to visit.
We went to a mall called Aqua City. There was triathlon race near Aqua City at that time. The place became crowded because of the triathlon race. From the Aqua City mall, we could see the Liberty Statue.
From Aqua City we went to the Fuji Television Building which was located nearby. The building could be easily recognized because it had a big ball at the building. In the Fuji Television Building we could see a lot of pictures and miniatures of characters in films and animes broadcasted by Fuji Television. The most popular ones were One Piece, Chibi Maruko-chan. There was also SMAP, a popular drama in Japan now. There was also souvenir shop which sold many cute things about characters of animes broadcasted by Fuji Television. In the Fuji Television building we could a blue dog everywhere. Maybe it was the mascot of Fuji Television, I don’t really know what exactly it was.
The last place we visited was Fuji Television. After that I parted way with my host family at Oimachi Station because we took different train. Kitty ちゃん cried when I got into my train while she had to get into another train. It took several minutes to calm her down and not long after that, the door of my train closed and I went back to my dormitory.
