18-kippu Trip Day 5: Kobe and Himeji

Our destinations for the fifth day of our trip were Kobe and Himeji. We didn’t go around much in Kobe, we just walked from the train station to the harbor nearby, had some lunch and then went on to our main destination that day, the Himeji Castle. The trip on the fifth day was actually quite cramped, since we took the train from Osaka to Kobe in the morning, we had only one or two hours in Kobe and then we had to continue to Himeji, and then from Himeji we had to take the train again to go to Hiroshima where we would spend our night.

This is the Seagull Harbor. From the Seagull Harbor we could see the Kobe Port Tower, but unfortunately there was some maintenance of the Kobe Port Tower, so most part of the tower was covered.

From Kobe we took the train and went to Himeji. We visited the Himeji Castle, it was a big castle located in a large complex in Himeji. Himeji Castle is the largest castle in Japan. It also has a garden in its castle complex. Visitors could actually go up to the observation deck. But since we didn’t have much time and there was quite a long queue for entering the castle, we didn’t go into the castle.

Disclaimer: these pictures of Himeji Castle were taken by my friend.

From Himeji Castle we rushed to the train station to take a train to Hiroshima and spent the night there.
