In September 2012 there was an event in Jakarta called Jak-Japan Matsuri 2012. It was a festival of Japanese culture in Jakarta. There were also such festivals in several previous and also subsequent years. But I only attended the one in 2012. The festival was held in several places, one of them was the Sari Pan Pacific Hotel at Thamrin street, with the peak of the event at Monas.
At Sari Pan Pacific Hotel there were several activities going on like the demonstration of slicing tuna fish for sashimi, sushi battle, and also performances on stage from Indonesian hip-hop singer, Japanese traditional songs, and performance of JKT48.
There were more booths, attractions, and performances at Monas. In order to get into the festival each person had to pay the entrance fee of Rp 25.000. Inside there were a lot of booths selling various stuffs from Japan, mainly Japanese food. There was also a parade of several Mikoshi going around in the Monas area. On the big stage there were performances of Japanese dances and also performance from some Japanese companies in Indonesia.
