Taman Suropati, Jakarta

Living in a city like Jakarta, sometimes it’s boring if the only places to go are shopping malls. Going to shopping malls has become a lifestyle for people living in a city. There are so many malls in this city, and they are always full of people on weekend. Fortunately there are still some parks in Jakarta. These parks provide an alternative for people to go to besides going to the malls. One park that I visited was the Suropati Park (Taman Suropati). This park is located at Menteng area. This park was full of people doing various kinds of activities, especially activities related to music. Sometimes there were music band performing in the park, there were also individuals playing music instruments like violin, cello, guitar, etc. This park even has a circle with treble clef etched on it. I also saw some people dancing in the park, and some others draw some drawings. In the park there were also some sculptures and pigeon houses. It provided a good alternative place for people of Jakarta to do various activities besides shopping at the malls. There is also some music community that practices in this park called Taman Suropati Chamber.
