On June 21st and 22nd a festival was held at Kota Tua (Old Town) Jakarta. Kota Tua is an old part of Jakarta with many old buildings and also museums. I had posted about Kota Tua previously in this blog. The festival at Kota Tua was called Kota Tua Creative Festival (KTCF) 2014. There were many booths selling various artistic and creative items, architecture exhibition, art exhibition, and a big stage in front of Museum Sejarah Jakarta for performances. The main area for the festival was Taman Fatahillah, with some exhibitions at buildings nearby like Tjipta Niaga and Kerta Niaga. I went to the festival twice, on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. On Sunday night, I went there to listen to the performances of Payung Teduh. Their music was very good and interesting. The musical instruments were also quite unique; they used double bass, ukulele, trumpet besides other general favorite musical instruments like guitar and drum.
On Sunday afternoon, I went to the Kota Tua area again. First I visited the Museum Bank Indonesia which was located not far from Taman Fatahillah. At Taman Fatahillah there were many plastic sheets written with hopes and wishes for Kota Tua being hung above the open space. There were also some people posing as certain figures and people could take a picture with them.
On the same day with and nearby the KTCF there was also Nusantara International Tea Festival. There were exhibitions about tea history, tea facts, and also some stalls selling teas from China, India, etc.
